Curated slow travel

Where the world slows to a different pace

Solstice is a membership service for those who believe that the most extraordinary experiences require unhurried attention. We research, curate, and guide a small number of journeys each year — to places most itineraries overlook entirely.

The Solstice philosophy

We don't sell destinations.
We design conditions for genuine encounter.

Every serious traveler eventually reaches the same conclusion: that the richest experiences are not found in a list of the world's best hotels, but in the quality of attention paid to how a journey is constructed. Solstice exists to do that construction work on your behalf — with the same care that an editor brings to a long piece of writing.

"The places we choose are not necessarily the most remote or the most spectacular. They are the ones where the conditions for genuine encounter — with landscape, with culture, with time itself — are most fully present."

Our team spends months researching each departure. We speak with local historians, chefs, naturalists, and craftspeople before we invite a single guest. The result is a journey with genuine depth — not a tour, not a package, but a carefully composed sequence of experiences that reward a certain quality of attention.

Membership is limited. We accept 200 members each year and offer fewer than 40 departures. Every journey carries a maximum of 8 guests.

01

Radical curation

We reject 90% of the places we research. Every departure on our calendar has been visited, vetted, and redesigned by our team before appearing to members.

02

Small by design

Eight guests. One guide. No shared coaches, no group dinners you didn't choose, no schedule that belongs to someone else.

03

The private guide

Every departure includes a Solstice cultural guide — a scholar, maker, or local authority chosen specifically for that journey, not a general-purpose tour leader.

Membership

What a Solstice
membership includes

We offer two tiers. Both include full access to the departure calendar and personal support from the Solstice planning team. The distinction is in how far ahead you reserve and how much of the journey we design with you.

  • 01
    Priority departure access

Members receive early access to each season's new departures before places open to the public — including departures not listed on the public calendar.

  • 02
    Dedicated journey planning

Your planning begins with a call. We discuss your interests, pace, and the kind of encounter you're looking for — and then suggest the right departure, not the most popular one.

  • 03
    The Solstice Field Notes

Before each departure, members receive a printed booklet — research, maps, annotated reading lists, and contextual notes prepared by that journey's cultural guide.

  • 04
    Post-journey archive

A private digital archive of images, writing, and recordings from your departure — made available three months after the journey, when memory and reflection have had time to settle.

The best journeys are the ones that change the quality of your attention for months after you return.
